I gotta be that guy to jump in and say that Tito was famously well-spoken and a smooth-talker, so I don’t think that kind of censorship would be necessary. The people supervising the job - yes, but not the big guy in charge.

Hahah I don’t know if an apology for anything is necessary, but I think the image Yugoslavia has in the west is vastly different than what it was. It was the best time for all of the states under it. It certainly isn’t any better now.

Almost none of the stereotypical images associated with the word dictatorship apply to Yugoslavia. It was a weird hybrid of socialist values and western capitalist economy.

I dunno it’s kind of a weird topic to delve into as a random comment, and I’m afraid that I’m not eloquent enough to back up any of my claims with concrete evidence right now, but I just wanted to share that those times are remembered fondly by most people here.

To be honest, I just know Yugoslavia existed.  I have no real experience of secondhand knowledge about how it existed. I may have to look into the subject.
